Product Description

ONLY RECOMMENDED FOR STOCK APPLICATIONS
This is a fix for the commonly leaking transmission cooler hoses for 2006-2009 chevy, and gmc trucks equipped with the allison 1000 transmission behind either the 6.6 liter duramax, or the 8.1 liter gas engine. This is the same kit that I sell on ebay. These are made out of 1/2" id braided hydraulic hose, rated for a minimum of 2000 psi (which is the same diameter as the steel tube on the factory lines). These hoses will handle the pressure and temperature that the factory hoses will not. I have been building these for customer's vehicles since june 2009, with no issues whatsoever. I know for a fact that these will fit up to the 2009 model year, but am not sure about the 2010, or 2011 model years. Included, is everything to make the conversion possible, except for the tools. I also included detailed instructions, which includes a list of required tools to perform the job properly.

If flow is a concern for you, the allison requires 9 gpm, and these 1/2" lines flow 9 gpm.

If you have an application that would require higher flow than normal, purchase the 5/8" hoses that we sell. Examples: heavy towing, chipped ecu, larger turbo, propane injection, or modified transmission.)

I installed this hose kit in the 3.5 hours that were estimated in the kit, including time to test and clean the tools. It went together fine, and I saved time by cutting the old lines out rather than trying to fish them through the chassis to help them on their way to the garbage bin. Fluid loss was minimal as I had each new fitting ready to go when the old one was removed. The hardest part was dealing with the lower rad hookup, but once I gave that spot a special name and repeated it a few times, the rest was pretty straight forward.

The product and fittings are first rate. I am impressed with the quality of the materials and workmanship. The installation went pretty much per the instructions. It took me 4-hours because I re-routed the first transmission hose 3 times. I suggest you consider adding a note regarding the radiator connections such that one fitting is removed and replaced before the other fitting is removed. This should reduce the amount of coolant that is lost. The lower radiator connection took several tries to get the hose threaded onto the fitting. The fitting is at an awkward angle. I had to cut the factory cooler to radiator hose in half to get it out. Going on three weeks now and no leaks. I plan to keep an eye on the hoses where they are routed near the engine and oil pan and will report more on that later. Coolant lost = 1/2 gallon. ATF lost = 1 quart. Barked knuckles = 0. Overall I am satisfied.

I fought those sorry factory transmission cooler lines for years. Had them replaced under warranty, then replaced them with the new improved lines from GM at my expense and they still leaked. I finally heard about Red's lines and ordered a set, a little bit of a struggle to put on up front as it is pretty tight in there. They absolutely do NOT leak, it's wonderful, the driveway and garage floor are clean and dry for the first time in years. Thanks Red. Dave A.
